replying to u/Snoo-18544: For coffee: BBF is a Japanese restaurant that operates as a excellent coffee shop during day time and has a good lunch program. They let people work there til 4:30. This would be my recommendation if you want to combine lunch and coffee. Everything they do is solid, but people are in love with their egg sandwiches. They also have freshly made onigiri, Japanese French toast, pancakes, katsu plates etc. Rex Coffee is another spot that you could also do. REX and Black cat are two other spots that are work friendly. Black Cat is a vibe, but Rex is better quality (they serve counter culture). However, if your more concerned with just a place to hang then Black cat is probably the coolest out of these. They also have by far the worst coffee of all four. Warning make sure you have your own hot spot, because a lot of nyc coffee houses dont have public wifi. I think Rex, Black Cat do, Sammy L does. Rex also has a pretty extensive food program, but given your here for one day may want to skip as there are more special bites. East Village also has Sammy L coffee which is near Astor place. Its good for work from. The owner is an award winning Italian trained barista and he opened the shop for nyu students. It has an Asian flair, as he is Taiwanese. Has a decent food program, but nothing that is worth writing home about, so I'd skip for something special. For drinks, lullaby is a great hidden gem cocktail bar. For famous spots you fan also take a shot at super bueno,
