replying to u/xkmasada: Wondee Siam at Chelsea has the best Thai, followed closely by Pure Thai a block or so away. Pure Thai has the lead on noodle dishes, but Won Dee is better in general cuisine. Hug Esan at Elmhurst has the best Esan/Isarn/Northeast Thai food.

replying to u/Jyqm: Winona's is indeed great, but yeah, they tend to get booked solid on the weekend. Other than that, though, it's pretty slim pickings in the immediate area. The Marcy Projects are right there, and beyond that it's a heavily Hasidic area, so there's just not much in the way of flashy restaurants. If it's not too far south, you might check out Guacuco (Throop just south of Dekalb), which has some delicious Venezuelan food at reasonable prices. Win Son isn't too far to the north but will probably also be slammed on the weekend. I've heard good things about Sally's (Tompkins & Willoughby, kind of Caribbean-Asian fusion) but haven't been there myself.
