replying to u/jesslane87: I would say MacDougall location. Less of an insta crowd at that one in my limited experience, def hit one though. It’s kinda low key, but I’m also a Tavern on Jane fan. If you’re able to arrive early (4-ish) and stand in line for when they open at (I think) 5, do Double Chicken Please.

Here are the last few places I've done this, what I got, and how much I paid: - Tavern on Jane - Original tavern burger: $24 + draft beer: $8 + 20% tip = $38.40 - Brindle Room - Sebastian burger: $22.00 + Manhattan: $15 + 20% tip = $44.40 - Milady's - Caesar salad, $16 + Sakura highball, $21 + 20% tip = $44.40 - Banzarbar - Pork katsu sando, $27 + Astaire, $23 + 20% tip = $60.00 Tavern on Jane was the highlight. I had kind of Goldilocksed my way there when I was running errands one Saturday afternoon. Corner Bistro and Tea and Sympathy, where I initially had wanted to go, were both too crowded. As soon as I walked in I got the most profound sense memory of having been there with my ex-husband and two of our closest friends (whom he got in the divorce) one winter afternoon a few years before I left him. Despite the PTSD flashback, I had a great time, getting burger juice all over the magazines I was reading (note to self, for future reference: glossy magazines and burger grease don't really go together). Another place I like to solo dine is Dante. I've done both. Last time I went I think I got the pappardelle, which is $32, and a classic Negroni, which was $10 when I went (between 3:00 and 5:00 PM daily). I think it was around $50.40, so that puts it between Milady's and Banzarbar price-wise. I do eventually want to try Balthazar, Minetta Tavern, Gramercy Tavern, and The Odeon.
