replying to u/Cartadimusica: Mei Lai wag's char siu bun has some extreme nay and yay. I'm in the former party but they've enough customers to worry about me. Dominique desserts aren't what they used to be. Next time check out la cabra and manh artisanal bakeries in Brooklyn (they just keep popping up nowadays). Hummus place's isn't a place to find flavor packed dishes but I've always enjoyed their hummus as they don't go crazy with the toppings and oh those fluffy pitas.

replying to u/Brief_Course6640: Daily Provisions on Amsterdam has some quick-ish lunch options. I also really like Hummus Place. For pizza I prefer Freddie and Peppers over the others in the area.

replying to u/thansal: Not mentioned yet: * [Overthrow Hospitality](https://www.overthrowhospitality.com/) - a few of the best vegan restaurants in NYC (and some of the best bars). Avant Garden is one of them, though I think it's the safest pick (it's New American and everything that conjures), my top pick is Eterea for vegan Mexican (also I like Tequila/Mezcal cocktails and dark/plush environs). * jajaja - vegan Mexican, heavy on the faux meat for my tastes, but they're all over. * PLANTA - couple locations, very pretty. Skip if you're from another big US city (check their website, they're all over). But it's one of the main places I know for vegan sushi if you want that. * Hangawi/Francia - Vegan Korean, excelent food, and cool digs. Hangawi is a more traditional Korean setting (low tables, take your shoes off at the door) while Francia is more modern. * Buddha Bodai - Kosher vegetarian in Chinatown. There's a couple places with similar names and ideas, but afaik they're not related, I've only been to the one on Mott. The roast 'pork' is not to be missed, and the orange 'beef' is also amazing. * NY Dosas (aka the Dosa guy in Washington Sq Park). I've never actually gotten anything from him b/c of the long lines (though they move fast). * If you come out to Flushing - Temple of Ganesha canteen for great dosas and other south Indian staples.
