Takeda

8.1/10Japanese

AI-generated summary

runs about $250 a person, and regulars call it the best in the city under $300. It's edomae focused and cheaper than the big names, which is why people keep saying it's underrated. A few mention the non courses as the surprise.

  • For sushi omakase, I recommend TAKEDA, Office of Mr. Moto, Yoshino, and Sushi Noz.

Steak: Keen’s and 4 Charles. 4 Charles is really for prime rib so if you want a traditional steak, you shouldn’t go there. I highly recommend The Grill for steak. Bagels: Russ & Daughters Pasta: I can’t say to all, only been to Misi, I Sodi, and Rezdora. Out of these three, I like Rezdora. Thought I Sodi was super salty but a friend of mine loves that place so 🤷‍♀️. I also like Carbone, and Frank in East Village (cash only). Burger: can’t say to this as well. Only had the burger at 4 Charles and it was really good. Ramen: only been to Tonchin in Williamsburg and thought it was ok. Still trying to find good ramen in NYC, I think Ippudo is pretty good. Sandwich: never been Southeast Asian: Thai Diner and Ugly Baby. Also really like Pranakhon in union square. Baked goods: Levain for those cookies. Taipan and Fay Da is regular Chinese bakery, only go if you’re in Chinatown but don’t seek them out. Also recommend L'Appartement 4F in Brooklyn Heights, and Lysee in Flatiron. Sushi: Out of these, I’ve only been to Tanoshi (a couple of days ago actually). They usually come highly recommended by many people but I thought it was ok and probably wouldn’t go back for the price. The first few pieces were really good and then it kinda went downhill from there. They started adding things on the pieces that overpower the fish itself. Two comes to mind…

Takeda is underrated and one of the cheaper more edomae focused sushi meals in nyc.

  • replying to u/Annual_Space_981: I’ve heard great things about Takeda, but haven’t been yet. I’ll be there at the end of the month.

So I went last night. It’s very very good and the non sushi dishes were a pleasant surprise.
