Bagelworks

7.1/10

AI-generated summary

People go for the , chewy inside with a crisp outside. It's a hole in the wall on 1st Ave that mostly feeds the nearby hospitals. Not everyone agrees, and a few say the bagels are small and the shop is dirty. Common tip, order a side at the counter and it's close to two for one.

  • What I love about this place is that the bagel is so even, chewy on the inside, slightly crisp on the outside, and generously sized. Like BB they have a variety of schmears so options pretty limitless. Had the Leo, more of a breakfast sandwich but well worth it. Comes in at a close second.

  • I used to go to bagel works but honestly the bagels are small and not that tasty, the everything (works) bagel doesn’t even have everything on it!

  • my personal favorite is Bagelworks on 1st avenue and 67th st. Not as well known as other NYC food institutions, but they're a classic hole-in-the-wall bagel/deli and they make delicious sourdough bagels.

  • replying to u/RemarkableRepeat7339: Bagelworks on 67/1. Believe they open at 6 every day

This place is disgusting, terrible bagels, dirty inside. I’ll never understand why ppl are always recommending.

  • replying to u/amagiciannamed_gob: This gets repeated a lot but I don't agree. I have had a LOT of mid pizza and mid bagels. I live in the UES and the bagel joints near me all pale in comparison to Utopia Bagels, so I often make the trip down to 34th and Lex for it. There's slice joints immediately near me that are excessively greasy, stale, bland, so I go to Mimi's Pizza even though it's a little further out from me because it's more to my taste. Especially given how much stuff costs nowadays, I'm not gonna get a bagel or slice that I'm not crazy about just because it's nearby

I’ve had some amazing bagels up here (kossair, bagel works, and a few others).
