replying to u/boroughthoughts: * th respect to the other spots that are popular you can't get reservations due to the use of bots, influencers. I encourage you to get out side of west village if you think this and avoid italian and sushi. Don't go to places that opened recently. I've only seen influencers at any place I dined on one occasion in LES/EV. Anyway my recommendation is Traif in Williamsburg. Theme is non-kosher (owned by a Jewish guy), so lots of pork products. 9 course tasting menu is the way. Its 58$ and 45$ for the wine pairing. They charge 20% gratuity and you will get out at 135 per person if you do both options. 63 Clinton, isn't exactly new, but they are also great Michelin star place that you can get reservations easily and fit non-stuffy. I haven't tried it yet but Luthun is supposedly similar. NYC is having a moment with Asian food. Thai and Korean especially. Fish Cheeks isn't quite michelin level, but great. You of course have Soother, Thai Diner and hungry thirst. Jua is a Michelin 1 star Korean palce with a 150$ tasting menu. Mari is a 1 star korean handroll place with a similar priced tasting menu. Ying Tao is a chinese tasting menu that also has a star at 150$. Omakase's Shota in Williamsburg got 1 star last year and is priced at 195 and 255$ depending on which menu. Not under the radar: You can easily get into Gramercy Tavern, Tuome, Casa Mono, Crown Shy.

replying to u/gotemforcheap: I've always felt the standard for 1 Michelin restaurants in NYC (maybe even America) has always been lower compared to the standard in Europe and East Asia. There's been so many 1 star places ive been to in NYC that just didnt hit. ex. jeju noodle, cote, yakitroi torishin, carbone (lost their star now), etc.
