Get the . It's the dish people name over and over, and the rib plate is right behind it. The and the spinach artichoke dip come up too. A few people roll their eyes that a chain is this hard to book, and one calls the service rude. Most regulars just say it never misses.

  • I have had one, single meal that missed in quality and delivery the entire time. That’s pretty impressive to me. There is a lot to be said for consistency, especially when it’s consistently delicious for what it is.

  • replying to u/rrjunkie: I know this isn't an impressive recommendation since it's a big chain, but Hillstone's near Madison Sq. Park has a really solid french dip.

Their ribs give me life. It was my go to spot for my birthdays as a kid.

  • replying to u/purpleflagbook: Houston’s was awesome on Park ave south

I loved the Houston's on the UES! Their spinach-artichoke dip was the best.

  • replying to u/kylife: My standard for a French dip is Houston’s/hillstone is it better than theirs? To be fair theirs does not have cheese

I may be biased because Hillstone’s/Houston’s French Dip is my all-time favorite dish at any restaurant

  • replying to u/mulleargian: I have some NYC restaurants that I really dislike, but they bring others joy so I wouldn’t want to yuck yums. Hillstone is a good example. I’d be supportive of closing The Smith because: fuck the Sackler family. And I struggle to imagine The Smith bringing true joy to anybody/being anything other than a convienient spot for out of towners (although I’m sure these people do exist.) Aside from that, maybe Salts Cure? The line list it de blocks the footpath all weekend long and their health inspection history is... colorful, to put it politely.

I actually have loved Hillstone/Houstons here, LI Denver for years. But solely for their French Dips.

  • replying to u/ponybluemoon: I get why everyone is trying to dunk on Hillstone/Houston’s. However, over my lifetime, I have been to this franchise probably near 100 times. I have had one, single meal that missed in quality and delivery the entire time. That’s pretty impressive to me. There is a lot to be said for consistency, especially when it’s consistently delicious for what it is.

they have some of the nastiest service ever for no reason at all. I don't give two fucks how the food tastes if staff is all nasty a-holes lol it's why I wouldn't step foot into my local Houston's
