replying to u/imk: I was getting breakfast at The Viand in UWS and they served me a toasted bagel with salmon where the bagel was burnt completely black. I was on my way to the airport so I just ate what I could and took off. I didn’t have time to make a fuss. I lived right around the corner from there and I never ate there again. Why would they even serve that? Weird.

replying to u/riyad94: If you’re talking about the one near Beacon Theatre, I agree, it’s awful. But they opened a new, more upscale Viand on 85th and Columbus maybe 2 years ago that is frankly one of the best diners I’ve eaten at. Sure, it’s like 22 bucks for a chicken Caesar wrap but it’s made with fresh Caesar dressing and juicy, tender chicken rather than dried day-old chicken that most diners serve when ordering a chicken Caesar wrap. I’d give that new one a shot.

replying to u/RoosterClan2: I never liked The Viand next to Beacon. But the Viand Cafe on 85th and Columbus is solid and consistent. I can’t speak for the prices though. Utopia Diner on Amsterdam b/w 72 and 73 was awful but since new owners/new mgmt took over about a year or so ago it’s been very good and more affordable.
