  • The matcha ube soft serve swirl was super yummy. Really clean matcha flavor which was admittedly a bit chalky, but I believe that’s par for the course with matcha, correct me if I’m wrong.

Cuts perfectly cleanly with a spoon and melts immediately in your mouth. I guess the first thing that goes when you do add-ins is the texture haha so they err on the side of texture over taste.

  • replying to u/chocolatetomatoes: Avoid Matcha Maiko, super bland

I think the hojicha is excellent! has a nice balance of bitterness/toasted nuttiness (in addition to the sweet).

  • replying to u/One-Pain-9749: If it’s chalky it sounds like it’s a lower quality matcha they’re using. Pretty typical for desserts, but I’ve had matcha ice cream with higher quality ingredients, and you can tell the difference.

I once had a pint of ice cream made with Kettl tea and it wasn't dry-feeling or gritty at all, I just thought that since they touted their in-house process the matcha quality would be somewhat comparable.

The matcha half wasn’t very sweet which was good because the ube swirl did the heavy lifting for that element. I wish it tasted more like ube though is my critique for the purple side, maybe double or even triple the flavor extract wouldn’t have been a problem for me.
