replying to u/randy1000000: i think the one sized fits all would be my neighborhood pick, but i have a few ol’ faithfuls for different groups/needs/personalities my neighborhood: saraghina (back patio, bottle of lambrusco and a bunch of shared plates) and recently bar birba (for cocktails and small plates mostly) for the friend that wants “sceney” but real: kiki’s (table wine and zucchini chips a must) or emilio’s large groups: hometown hotpot (big groups i’ve brought have run them out of tsing tao 3 times) family: abcv (unique food, nice environment, shared plates and good wine and service) clients: docks, monkey bar, ilili, gaonnuri veg/vegans: abcv, hangawi, cadence, jajaja

replying to u/dirtymartinigirl: I also have celiac so here are some of my suggestions: For Chinese food, go to Lilli and loo (regular + separate gf menu). It is $$$ but it is damn good. Also, if you want dim sum, there are some great options at AweSum dim sum. It’s an order at the counter type of place, not carts, but it’ll do. For pizza, I like Sottocasa & pizzarte (neopolitan) and Emmy squared (Detroit style). For pasta, la Pecora bianca makes their own gf pasta. They have multiple locations throughout the city, but it is very good imo. All these places have non-gf and gf. Bagels- modern bread & bagel is a must. Being able to order a bagel & cream cheese like a normal person is a dream. Keep room in your suitcase to bring home bagels & breads to freeze. Its $$$ but worth it. Fully gf facility. Friedmans is a great spot for breakfast/lunch (amazing gf pancakes, chicken & waffles, fried chicken sandwich, etc.). Tons of gf options + regular. As mentioned in other comments, many places will accommodate you (also depends how severe your symptoms are, mine aren’t so I risk cc sometimes). replying to u/bkhalfpint: Saraghina in Bed Stuy used to have quite large portions, though I haven't been in over 10 years. The location in Ft Greene has a really good version where they use biscotti instead of lady fingers. It is a lot smaller tho, about more than half the size.

Want to know what I saw online later? Totally open bookings even the next day. One guess why he might have blatantly lied…
