Bakeries - a lot of better options (radio bakery, ALF, supermoon, la Cabra, even Mah ze dar) Soul/sourhern - make the trip to Harlem and go to Sylvia’s, Amy Ruth’s or (less old school) red rooster Burger - depends on what kind of burger you’re looking for Bagels - good selection, I recommend Tompkins square though Also: hit up a kosher deli/store (greengras, B&H, edit: just saw russ on your list) BBQ - no real outstanding options You’re missing Chinatown, Korean, and tons of other “ethnic food” imo - search the sub (just put in “best…”)

replying to u/The-20k-Step-Bastard: Which is then? Blackseed bagels is dogshit. David’s bagels are worse than TS Bagels. Apollo Bagels and Davidovich don’t have a grill. Mfs need a sausage egg and cheese bagel. It can’t always be lox or strawberry cream cheese.

replying to u/xeothought: Good.. my favorite bagels aren't on the list lol... That being said, I should shout them out. David's Bagels on 1st ave bet. 15th and 16th. My area has Tompkins Square Bagels on here too.. and people hype them up all the time... but I personally really dislike them as a bagel source (their sandwiches are good, but I buy bagels by the half dozen for home). They always have lines and are overpriced on a per bagel basis.

Absolute (108 and B'way) is delish as well, but that is a scene. My only recommendation is to ask what it hot and order that (general rule, not store specific).
