We like it in the curry bowl. The breakfast burritos are delicious too, and they have fun one-offs in the hot case. Do NOT sleep on the little sausages if they happen to have them!
“I can't really say the chicken katsu is top tier. I don't think most Japanese people would even recognize it as katsu. If someone was looking for really well prepared authentic chicken katsu they wouldn't find it here.”

replying to u/Slamdingo: I'm not trying to hate on Mama Yoshi but I do think it's overrated and overpriced especially considering the amazing options folks have mentioned on this thread. I live in the neighborhood and I often go to other Japanese restaurants nearby if I'm in the mood for katsu. My two cents is that you should prioritize the other recommendations on this list.

replying to u/MTGothmog: Mama Yoshi Mini Mart is great! They can have some weird hours so plan your visit ahead of time. I would also say that theres usually a line and limited seating so maybe grab food to go and head to a nearby bar for drinks! They also do katsu breakfast burritos!
