replying to u/realpicklebill: I really like Quality Meats and go there a lot. Yes you might have to wait at the bar for your table. But it is very consistent. It’s also more fun? Hard to explain. Hawksmoor is very serious I feel, and the couple of times I’ve been have just been ok. Benjamin is not a top 10 steakhouse in NYC. In Manhattan I also like: OG Smith & Wollensky on 49th and 3rd, Keens more for the mutton chop than steak, Gallagher’s, Minetta Tavern and have randomly had multiple good experiences at Ocean Prime even though everything about it is what I usually hate.

replying to u/rod333: Gage and Tollner Where else can I get a stellar martini, southern food, some of the best steakhouse fare in the city, and a Korean twist? Clams Kimsino? Fried chicken with hush puppies? A 40oz porterhouse with roasted garlic to squeeze on top? A baked Alaska? The combination of all these influences is totally wild, and I’m so happy that this restaurant exists And the bar is amazing, even when eating solo. It’s drop dead gorgeous inside

replying to u/Traditional-Part-756: Basically, any number of nice steakhouses fit the bill: Delmonico's, Wolfgang's, Keen's, Benjamin, and their various competitors. Alternately, they're a number of high end Greek seafood restaurants, known as Estiatoria (most of them have this word in their names). Another easy solution: just find Michelin-starred restaurants. There's dozens of them, and the food will generally be good and expensive. I think the two-star places are a sweet spot: not so adventurous as to be off putting or viewed as fiscally irresponsible, but still very nice and quiet enough to have a business conversation.
