There are some Asian spots I've eaten at recently that are now among my favorite in the city, but they require a bit of advanced planning in terms of reservations. Hojokban, which does Korean soul food and opened last November, is now my favorite place in K-Town (an area I love and frequent often). I've gone back just for their melt-in-your-mouth short ribs. Another new-ish spot I love is Potluck Club, in the LES area, which does Cantonese-American, and all their dishes are inventive and delicious. C As In Charlie, in the NoHo area, is also modern Korean tapas and has dishes you likely won't find in any other Korean spot, all while being very fun (when I was there we got free shots, which seemed to be the norm). Right beside it is Fish Cheeks which is my favorite Thai spot in the city. Nowon, another Korean-American spot in the East Village, does a six-course menu on Mondays for a discounted price (it's an insanely good deal, I think something like less than $50). And every dish is a banger. My husband and I have done it twice, the second time because we took an out-of-towner, who loved it too.

replying to u/Maleficent_Guide_727: I don’t understand the hype of radio. I’ve gone 4 times to try an assortment of things and everything has been…. Mid or below. Twice baked pistachio croissant is extremely dry and lacks depth. Double chocolate croissant is extremely dry, but well laminated. The brown butter cake is nice, but just nice. Also quite dry. The morning bun was well made but also lacked depth or richness. Maybe it’s an excellent bakery for savory items? But truly, I’d give it a skip.

replying to u/Jolly-Truth-557: Radio bakery in greenpoint is really great. Their loaves are all very good but their different focaccias (/focaccia sandwiches) are where it’s at. They sell out of focaccia pretty early tho.
