It's an old whaling ship docked at Pier 25, and people come for the selection and a with the skyline view. The common advice is to stick to drinks and , because the dinner menu is the weaker part. It's expensive and seasonal, and skip it if anyone in your group gets motion sick.

To me it's Grand Banks and it's not close. You get good food (pricy of course) and good drinks and the right vibes on the Tribeca pier.

  • Grand Banks is one of my favorite places in the summer, with fantastic oyster selection and a solid menu and cocktails.

  • replying to u/xlaurenthead: Grand Banks is one of my favorite places for a sunny afternoon. Sit at the oyster bar and chat up the oyster guys. Ask questions. You’ll get free samples and great advice. Buy a dozen oysters. Get a lobster roll. All in between super cocktails. Look around at the celebrities and the view of the Hudson and NY Harbor. Close your eyes and present your credit card.

I actually love GB but lord is it expensive.

Seconding Grand Banks, also it’s pricey but not ludicrously so especially considering the novelty of the place

Since it’s her first time, maybe someplace grand with a view – Manhatta and River Cafe 4. Domodomo - they have a Domokase set, which isn’t strictly omakase but has a variety of other items. Bonus points, they have an oyster bar as well

Seconding Grand Banks for oysters because you get an incredible skyline view while floating on water - my parents loved this experience.
