    replying to u/jellosghost: Best breweries: Other Half for hazy IPAs, Grimm for hazy IPAs (though in a drier style), Wild East for lagers, Finback for a pretty well rounded program. Best beer bars: Hops Hill, Gold Star, Covenhoven, The Owl Farm, Blind Tiger, Fools Gold, Proletariat.

    replying to u/CommitteeEmergency82: There are so many amazing breweries in NYC right now. It just depends on what you are looking for. Lagers - Wild East and Threes are the classic go to Lager spots in NYC. Eckhart is new on the scene and is making some fantastic beer. They will be opening their tap room in Bushwick in April. Killsboro from SI has been trying to get into this category for me. Their newest beer Yada Yada Spelt is absolutely top tier Lager wise. IPA - Other Half is an obvious and has dominated the NYC craft beer scene for years. Test that just opened on Metropolitan in Williamburg is probably making the best IPA in the city at this time though. Finback is also so good at IPA and the taproom in Gowanus has some really good Asian food. All around - Grimm is doing everything well. Their IPA game isn’t top tier, but they do everything well. You can’t go wrong with anything they make for the most part. Evil Twin is mostly known for their weird and different sour beers, but they also make very good lagers and IPAs. Evil Twin greenhouse in Ridgewood during the summer is a top notch experience.
