replying to u/ourannual: I dine solo a lot, once in awhile you get the vibe that you’re not being prioritized but most of the time it’s fine, I feel like it’s pretty common in NYC. As others have said, nice places tend to be particularly attentive to solo diners. The last couple places I had a particularly great time dining solo were Agi’s Counter and The Otter in soho.

Re: Lilia - I think your evening might be broadly more enjoyable if you looked at Cafe Spaghetti and Bar Mario in Carroll Gardens / Red Hook, or Al Di La in Park Slope. Lilia + its neighborhood of Williamsburg are a G train and 15 minute walk from DTBK away, and add in the walk-in approach to getting a table and you may be in for a frustrating night - certainly for my money the Williamsburg pastas are not on some different level taste or experience-wise to justify the added risk of traveling there and not getting in or not getting a table for 3 hours. Re: Rana Fifteen- I’ve dived here and also been enticed by the easy family style menu and reasonable prices. The food was good! Absolutely nothing to write home about or travel to from another city. If you’re looking for ease and timeliness, won’t have a bad time there but definitely quick and delicious things within 2-3 blocks of Rana that meet the same criteria and are great as well! Super Burrito at Three’s Brewing comes to mind as really great and quick and memorable. Re: BRUNCH! Please check out Agi’s Counter! It’s 2 blocks from Botannical Gardens and a **much** better experience than Leland. Especially considering your affinity for Smoked Fish (chefs kiss on Shelky’s PS, no notes.) Have a great trip!!
