  • The quality and execution is really top notch! The broth is tasty and the meats are tender! Also a lot of freebies like a dessert bar with popping boba and really good soft serve!

Need to look at their IG to see what they’re offering that week and make reservation) - Banh Mi Co Ut (for banh mi) - Spongie Cafe (sponge cakes) - Mabu Cafe (HK style cafe. • Dolar Shop in the East Village also has a vegetarian broth option and is good because it's personal hotpot as well so you don't have to share broth with any non-vegetarians.

Yeah its overpriced yet serving the same frozen food as everyone else

  • Dolar Shop is my favorite in Manhattan - but I'm biased towards personal hotpot since it makes the whole experience a lot easier. And of course that amazing soft serve at the end.

  • Went to Dolar Shop recently, wasn’t super impressed. It was fine but nothing special for being fairly more expensive. And the sauce bar kind of sucks in comparison, much more limited

  • Dolar shop has AYCE hotpot (including prime grade beef) after 9pm for $45/pp and it's great

  • replying to u/flugtard: Not really “weird” but fun- conveyor belt sushi in Jersey City? Kura Revolving Sushi Also maybe Haidilao hot pot in Flushing? It’s maybe “weird” in a voyueristic way if you’re not asian or chinese. Im chinese and that place literally feels like China. It’s huge, there’s soft serve, they give you bibs for eating and the bathrooms are stocked with little extras like flossers, mouthwash and hair ties. My favorite: if you order hand pulled noodles they pull it in front of you at the table in a theatrical way.

Dolar shop is the best hot pot in town

  • Hotpot (Da Long Yi, HaiDiLao, Dolar Shop, etc) or Korean BBQ (Jongro, Mapo, Nubiani, etc).

  • dollar shop is a $$$-tier place but honestly its so worth it, and my go-to; their broth is literally the best that i've had.

  • they have one vegan broth (tomato) which is very good and a lot of veggie options for food and dipping sauce can be made vegan as well.

  • Dolar Shop wasn’t good enough to warrant the much much higher price.

  • There’s so many. Happy Hot Hunan, Atlas Kitchen, Dolar Shop, Mala Project, Szechuan Mountain House, 886, Jiang Kitchen, Silky Kitchen, Yi Ji Shi Mo, and that’s just off the top of my head and only in Manhattan.

  • What's your criteria for best? Some favs in Manhattan: - LaoJie - Hometown Hotpot and BBQ - Dolar Shop - Hou Yi

  • replying to u/MurrayPloppins: Only done one in the city, which was Dolar by Union square. It was decent, not exceptional. People seem to swear by 99 Flavor Taste.

In the city, Dolar shop is the answer.

  • Generally speaking I like Chong Qing Lao Zao or Hai Di Lao more than I like Dolar Shop.

  • I've noticed even chains for some reason (like Haidilao, dolar shop), tend to taste better or have better service in Richmond than NYC.

  • If you're sticking to Manhattan, then either Da Long Yi on Canal Street or Dolar Shop (as others have suggested).
