replying to u/zoobooze: Haha I love this, such different opinions. For both Apotheke's and GOTO every cocktail we got was astonishingly good. I'm a sucker for Asian influenced cocktail culture as well. Patent Pending has one of the coolest spaces in the City, and the cocktails were good for sure, but nothing blew me away. The original Angel Share was tied with Mace for being my favorite cocktail bar in the City, but we went to the new location where I believe the daughter runs things now and it wasn't nearly as good in my opinion. Martiny's, I understand was opened by the head bartender of Angel Share, and the cocktails were good, but I did not think they justified $25+ price tag that came with a lot of them - still a great bar though.

replying to u/Impossible_Ad_7209: Tell your friend that if he wants to go to a TikTok famous place, odds are he will need to book it in advance himself. There are hundreds of bars across the city and no reservations are necessary for most of them. I recommend saving your favorites on a map and breaking them down by neighborhood, this way you can always remember what’s nearby. You haven’t specified your age and what kind of vibe you are looking for, but Apotheke in Chinatown is usually good to start the night.

replying to u/brigadeiro1254: Ok, I've been on three separate occasions — spaced many months apart — and the subterranean space always smells so strongly of mildew or perhaps mold!!! And I have a nonexistent sense of smell due to allergies... I truly don't understand what's going on and why they won't address the issue. I have not, however, been to the penthouse— perhaps that is newer? TLDR: stick to the Chinatown location! The vibes are also otherwise superior.

replying to u/philip1930: Good look, thanks for the input! Sant Ambroeus looks like a strong contender, I wouldn't mind an affogato and some fresh orange juice from there as well. Yeah I had that thought about Dead Rabbit as well since I'd be there for cocktails and irish coffee and already have a dedicated whiskey bar on the list. I'll actually be heading over to Chinatown after dinner to hit up the Astor Club. I've already hit up Attaboy so maybe Death and Co, though that feels like a hike? Appreciate the info on Ming Wong, I've never had Pekin duck so I deffinitly want to try a good spot for it.
