replying to u/palefire123: Mamoun's is real lamb slices on a vertical spit being roasted by open flames. The ideal scenario. Been going there for years. The Original Halal Guys are using the cone meatloaf on a griddle. Been going there for years too. It has its place and is a good value but there's no mistaking it for the real lamb at Mamoun's and similar.

Check out the following Kati Shop (thai curry) Kwik Meal (halal cart) Ootoya (the onigiri stand outside) Bao bao cafe (chinese/taiwanese) Los Tacos no 1 (tacos) Margon (cuban) All'antico Vinaio (italian sandwiches) Shamas deli (sandwiches) Some of my favs to disrupt the usual slop bowls/salads Bonus one in the 5 dollar deal at dunkin where they give a wake up wrap, hash browns, and a medium iced/hot coffee. Perfect for a day when you're not really hungry

replying to u/RedHawk02: I like Shah's a lot but it's not even close to Adel's lamb. The Shah's chicken is probably better. Idk for sure as I haven't had Adel's chicken in so long cause it's so mid. Actually I like Shah's chicken more than Shah's lamb. Also Shah's has actual good green sauce, not whatever the fuck Adel's is serving as green sauce.

replying to u/JayMoots: Halal Cart is your best bet. Chicken and/or Lamb over rice. There are a ton of them concentrated around 6th Avenue. Everyone like's Adel's lately (6th Ave near 50th st.) but there's a good chance you'll encounter a crazy line. If you go and the line is more than 5 or 6 people, I'd walk down the avenue to Kwik Meal (6th ave and 45th st) or Royal Grill (6th Ave and 44th st.) Other than that, there should be some late night pizza slices available within walking distance of your hotel. I'd just go to whatever is closest to you, but if you want to go (potentially) out of your way for an exceptional slice, Joe's at Broadway and 41st is one of the best in town.
