replying to u/CabassoG: My favorite diner in terms of classic options is Joe Jr. at 3rd and 16th. It has an old school feeling and the prices are pretty reasonable and the food is tasty. Otherwise, you're traveling so it would be a pain to get to but I find diner culture to be more of a thing still in northern NJ than NYC.

But if you want old school NYC diners, maybe try the Parkview Diner by Coney Island. Or if you want to stick to Manhattan, the Waverly Diner or Washington Square Diner in the West Village.
