replying to u/Newnewtownian: Bistro Vendôme and Tournesol in queens are the most authentic French restaurants run by French people. I’d avoid the big brasseries like the Odeon or Boucherie, as they’re basically American restaurants with Parisian decor.

replying to u/Newnewtownian: Tournesol, Le Crocodile, French Louie, Cozy Royale. I don’t usually get them in Manhattan because the pricing is crazy and it usually only comes with frozen fries OR a salad and sauces are extra. However, the one at Bistro Vendome looks good. For me it has to have a well-seasoned/cooked steak, hand cut fries, a salad to cut the richness, and some sort of sauce or compound butter included.
