I tried Birch many times and it's as sour as the rest of them imo. Sounds like you're suggesting going by vibe and decor, that seems like a good idea.

replying to u/constantjake: This is so real. Whenever we go home to San Francisco or Seattle we’re reminded of how robust coffee can taste! Especially espresso. The closest we can get is maybe La Colombe. Joes Coffee in Park Slope is a true haven for nice strong coffee.

If you’re here for a flat white then there’s good options, but I feel it’s a common trap for Aussies to think the coffee is bad in the US because everything needs to be a flat white. If you want to try a good Americano or Cold Brew, I recommend somewhere like La Colombe.
