Smacking BurgerCHAIN

7.8/10American

AI-generated summary

It's a counter inside a Mobil gas station in the West Village, and people say it's much better than that sounds. Get the Big Smack, a couple dollars more than the single and worth it. A runs around $6 or $7, with a secret sauce and bread and butter pickles. A few people call it a hype spot, but most say it holds up.

  • replying to u/snazzyvalise: Au Cheval has a downstairs bar that’s walk in only. Minetta Tavern will serve walk ins at the bar, but there will likely be a wait unless you go very late. (I think they serve till midnight.) Other thoughts: Corner Bistro, JG Melon. For Smashed: Hamburger America, 7th Street Burger. Good luck.

Smacking Burger in the WV/Chelsea Mobil gas station nearby is better, imho.

Smacking burger was so good! Also never saw it on social media just looked on google maps while craving a smash burger. I got a double and it had juicy and flavorful patties with a good meat to bread ratio

  • replying to u/crazeman: I sat at the counter for my burger and it tasted terrible. I wasn't STARING at the guy who made my burger the entire time but it I'm 99% sure he forgot to add seasoning because the burger was tasteless and I know I can make a better smash burger at home. (There are times where I forget to add salt when I cook a smash burger, and it still ends up more flavorful than the burger the guy made lol. It also took him a very long time to make the burger, at home I crank up the stove and it's usually done in 2 mins) I stayed at the counter long enough for him to watch gim make another burger and I did not see him season that one either but MAYBE I just missed it again. When I went home and watch the YT video on how George Motz makes it, the guy definitely did not stack and steam the buns lol. Maybe I'm just unlucky and got a his first day on the job guy making burgers lol. I'm not the type to complain to the waiter so I just took the L and won't go back.

Go to smacking burger if you want a good smash burger.

  • replying to u/twoanddone_9737: Nowon isnt too far from me and it’s been on the list for a while, may go try it out later today. Smacking Burger really that good? I’ve seen it on social media a ton which is usually a red flag for me. But maybe that’s just cause of the novelty of it being in a gas station.

smacking burger is really good. used to live nearby and went all the time
