Virgil's Real BBQCHAIN

5.4/10

AI-generated summary

People argue about this one. Fans say the smoked wings and hush puppies are genuinely good, and that a new pitmaster from Hometown improved the food. Others say it's generic chain , pricey, and that there's far better in the city. Most land in the middle, a fine Times Square stop that gets you in and out if you're not expecting the best.

  • It’s a midtown generic kind of BBQ but the last time I was there the wings were outstanding. There’s far better in town but if you’re around Times Square and want some Q is a decent stop.

  • Virgils is solid. Way back when, it was the best in NYC, but I fear it’s been turned into just another chain-like bbq joint. Having said that, they have the best hush puppies in the north.

  • Virgil's was our stop for lunch. Not fantastic but could have been worse. Sweet Chili smoked chicken wings were the best thing of the afternoon there earning a 7.2.

  • It’s good. If they have the chicken fried steak, get it and you’ll roll out of there with leftovers for days.

  • I took Mom there and liked it. I'm sure someone will tell you it's not real BBQ or something but I've never been to Texas. I thought the smoked dishes were great, the service was good, and the sides were okay.

Their Breakfasts are huge and pretty good.

  • It's alright, nothing amazing. If you've had bbq from a chain in the south, its a bit like that.
