Abiko CurryCHAIN

7.4/10Japanese

AI-generated summary

Get the and go high on the spice, level 4 or 5 is the usual advice. People say the has a depth other places lack and the comes out much crispier. Not everyone agrees. A few say it tastes like boxed , and regulars say it used to be a lot spicier.

  • replying to u/thansal: I'm reasonably convinced that it's Playground and Hug Esan - Isaan inflected Thai food that will go to 11 if you ask them. At Playground it's 'Spicy' or '5', at Hug Esan it's 'Thai Spicy' or '15'. 4 and 10 will probably match up with places that don't let you customize spicy (eg: Zaab Zaab, Kho Nom), still VERY spicy, but not straight up "I self harm via capsaicin". They're also delicious, you will need to assure your server that you like mainlining reapers. Kua Kling (as you said) and Nam Khao Tod (crispy rice salad) are probably my recs for getting the most spice into your face, they're both based off of something along the lines of red curry paste, and are dry, which I think helps. I think they both beat out over 5 at rowdy rooster (which is also clearly in "I self harm..." levels, but again, delicious). There's places that have spice levels higher than I've ordered, so maybe they beat them: * Ichiran - they theoretically go up to 20? I doubt it'll be enjoyable as I think it's just more and more of the same spicy paste, so it'll all just taste like that... * Abiko Curry - Honestly really spicy, I don't think I've done 4, but I doubt it'll over top Rowdy/Playground/Hug, but again, just more of the spicy powder I think. Also, right across from BCD. Honorable mentions: * Karakatta - My go to for spicy ramen, but also the most over the top chashu. I think they do "Very spicy, but you can still taste everything" the best out of spicy ramen options. * Adda - people bi…

I've done the hottest at Abiko and it's properly hot but still very enjoyable and flavorful.

  • replying to u/KaleidoArachnid: I am curious to know how good the food quality is as I have never been to it before.

Abiko has better atmosphere, but is less differentiated from the stuff you make at home from a box.
