The Snail

8.1/10American

AI-generated summary

The is what people push hardest. More than one person calls it the best dessert in the city. The is close behind, and the head chef came from Au Cheval, so it lands near 4 Charles territory. The ham and chips is fun but salty. Prices run a little high for what it is.

  • It was very good. The Caesar salad was just kind of a perfect simple Caesar. Beef tartare was delicious. I got a flat iron chicken with a red wine sauce that was wonderfully juicy and tender with a very crispy skin and very flavorful sauce. I would absolutely eat there again.

  • The Snail would be a good option if you’re looking for a 4 Charles alternative since the head chef is an Au Cheval alum.

  • replying to u/air-: What is the driving the appeal for the snail? I ask since the menu looks similar to plenty of other restaurants while all the hype and no reservations means it's a tough getting a table

The burger is quality and the sticky toffee date cake is one of the best desserts in the city imo

Starters and sides are all very well executed, burger, chicken and steak are excellent (albeit slightly overpriced) and desserts are outstanding.

  • replying to u/amandabug: the chips and ham app seems easy to recreate. was it super salty though or were the chips unsalted?

got this last week, it was pretty salty and not worth it; you can definitely just recreate it at home

  • The snails, ham chips, and salads are decent. The pasta is solid, the burger is solid (not Top 5) but those desserts!!
