replying to u/NYEDMD: Not sure it’s the "best", but the Elephant Burger at Elephant & Castle is the most underrated burger in the city. Perfectly cooked, with cheddar cheese, bacon and curried sour cream. Is it is as good as Minetta Tavern or 4 Charles? Probably not, but it’s not going to set you back $50, either. Fries are à la carte but delicious and more than enough for two. Trivia: Elephant & Castle has been around for more than half a century — which should tell you something. When it opened in 1973, the Elephant Burger cost $2.75.
