replying to u/padeca07: Just to piggyback off of the L'Artusi rec. You also have Olio e Piu, Da Andrea, Don Angie and Da Toscano all around that same location (West Village). They all have delicious pasta dishes. Then you also have Sogno Toscano right there as well for schiacciate and wine. Random suggestion, but also look at Basta Pasta for a Japanese take on Italian classics.

replying to u/Dunesgirl: Same but isn’t Da Umberto quite a bit more expensive? Used to frequent Da Andrea when we lived nearby, was always reliable but not mind blowing. Da Umberto is in a different category IMO food is superior.
