replying to u/Sea_Pangolin1525: There are now a few good places in Manhattan: Carnitas Ramirez, Tacos 1986, Santo Taco. I wouldn't say any are better than Los Tacos. Each does their own thing. Los Tacos was an important step up at a time when there really weren't good taco places in the city. I lived in East Harlem in the 00s, the most mexican neighborhood in the city, and the places were not great. Since los tacos raised the bar other places are competing, also in brooklyn like El Chato, Tacos Ramirez, Tacos Guey, and Al Pastor in Bushwick. It's great that we have a selection now. If people think all these places are too expensive, that's different than saying they are bad. Of course food in NY is too expensive. What else is new?

replying to u/justflipping: For your last meal, I would get something that’s hard to get back home. For example, if it’s hard to get tacos, I would do Carnitas Ramirez. Tsukemen? Then Tabetomo. Also, you’ve had mostly typically hyped places. You can consider something more off the beaten path.

I’m not a huge taco enjoyer usually but those santo tacos steaks look absolutely amazing, what location did you get them from? Will hit them up the next time I’m looking for some Apollos bagels feel “lighter” compared to the classic NYC bagel you’d used to because they work with a sourdough starter, thus many people’s opinion and even dislike in this sub. I personally think they’re well made, you just have to be aware that you’re not getting a traditional classic bagel

replying to u/Tejon_Melero: They did a pop-up at several locations of Tacombi last year or two. I was really excited to go, but couldn't, and the only thing that made me feel better was my friends who went didn't like it, and people here hated it.

replying to u/warfighter187: just went to golden diner for the first time today myself. i found the pancakes to be really good and fairly priced at $16 for 2. i couldn't finish them (granted I had the egg sandwich as well since i don't like to visit places more than once) the pancakes were really good to me, it tasted like a well made fluffy biscuit if that makes sense. i'm more of a waffle person though. the honey butter was just like melted butter and a little honey in it. I also tried Santo taco today, and found both the carne asada and the steak trompo tacos to be absolute dogshit. i think every post on reddit talking about these must be paid marketing. The spicy habanero sauce they have is really good though. I would never ever go back to this place and never get them compared to like los tacos (i still need to try a bunch of other taco places)
