replying to u/thansal: [Overthrow Hospitality](https://www.overthrowhospitality.com/) probably has something that would fit you desire for a bit more upscale, and I don't think anything is particularly soy heavy. I'm personally a big fan of Eterea, it fits my sensibilities (dark, plush) and tastes (Mexican food and excellent Tequila centric cocktails). I have really enjoyed Soda Club (cramped, but excellent fresh pasta) and Avant Garden (new American to a T). You should also take a look at Lamalo and Laser Wolf, who have similar spreads to Shukette, but with the advantage that you just get all of the small plates they have for the day. Go all out and you can do Le Bernardin, who apparently have a very good veg tasting menu as well as their traditional fish centric one.

replying to u/ChivalrousWombat: Cadence. Definitely among my worst experiences for 2023, but based in the hype, it might be right at the very top. Food was either over salted or bland depending on the dish, and most of the food felt like it was compensating for being vegan by being deep fried. The best thing was the cornbread, and I can still make a better cornbread from a boxed mix. Even the drinks we had were poorly balanced and just flat out didn’t taste good. The kicker was the outlandishly poor service we received. A hostess who couldn’t be bothered to look at us and a ghost of a waitperson who forgot half of our order for 45 minutes or so. I still see it being at the top of people’s favorites, and hyped on social media. So I’ve lost a lot of faith in recommendations.
