replying to u/donut_butt: Firstly, I am pretty far from an expert on Indian food, so take my reactions with a grain of salt! The dosa was the best thing we had here, super crisp and with very flavorful filling. We realized here that we really need to order dosas with potato fillings (when we went to Temple Canteen, we just got unfilled dosas, and the dish felt unmoored). The thali dishes were fine, though not as flavorful as we'd like. The naan was great, as was the chana masala and the paneer tikka masala. We also got a spinach kati roll (mostly because we walked by Biryani Cart the day before, which I've loved for \~20 years now, and I made the mistake of not copping there), but it was pretty disappointing. replying to u/gbpenalty: As a South Indian who's eaten at both these locations multiple time, Semma dosa is definitely better quality but is it worth the $20? Nope. Not only does Saravana Bhavan have more varieties but also much more value at the current prices. Thiru (NY Dosa man) in WSP is also good. Temple Canteen is much better than Saravana Bhavan and Thiru but you've got to head out all the way to Flushing.

replying to u/poprockphotography: I had the hot dog at Mercado, it was average, wouldn't order it again. This was my second visit to Temple Canteen, i was excited about exploring Flushing. I will mark Pondicherry for my next visit. My biggest disappointment was Maria Enoteca in Staten Island. It's the one where the different grandma's guest chef. We went for lunch and it is just the normal menu during the day I wish they would have told me that on the phone when I made a reservation. And we ordered lasgana and another customer had it too and they were sitting in the window when we were leaving, so I snagged a photo and they received a beautiful lasagna, so I felt like they were F those tourist. lol.
