replying to u/some1105: I think because this is a dessert for a dinner party, you should narrow this down from just French bakeries. You don’t want to just bring croissants or baguettes, after all. Depending on your preferred spend and your timeframe, I would highly recommend either a plate of macarons from Laduree or a Mille crepe cakes (very fabulous) from Lady M Crepe Boutique. In either case, multiple flavors available, lovely presentation, high quality guaranteed and recognizably French.
