replying to u/Elio555: Buvette and Via Carota are much better restaurants, where locals like to eat, but are hard to get into. I really like Frenchette and Odeon downtown. If you’re uptown, Cafe Luxembourg is a great spot. Two other places in the West Village with checking out at Crevette for Basque seafood, and Barbutto for Italian.

I also heard La Sirene is good on the same block. I just took my mother to the Georgian restaurant Saperavi and she liked it.
