So far our favourite has been Eim Khao Mun Kai which is "Thai style" but it's been solid and consistent every time (plus the family there is lovely)

replying to u/Eastercooler: Ooh I have been to all except elm Khao, pata, and gai kitchen!!! Out of those, I like hug Esan for the food but portions are small for the price. Khao Kang has went up alot yearly with no change in portions ($17ish now I believe). Sriprathai was good back maybe 7-8 years ago esp their fried herb salad. Pye boat has the smallest portion out of those places but maybe its because its in astoria :( What is your favorite out of those?

replying to u/crazeman: I still don't really understand why Hainan Chicken House is so well regarded by food critics. I've been there a few times now and it seems pretty run of the mill Malaysian food to me. Like if I live in Manhattan and have Nonya in Chinatown, I'd be pissed off if I traveled all the way to Sunset Park to basically have the same/similar chicken lol. They do used to have really interesting specials on the weekends and would post them on Instagram. It seems like the chef there are just fucking around and making cool new dishes as weekend specials but they haven't really posted anything in 2024... (Most of these critics don't really talk about the weekend specials, just the Hainanese chicken)
