replying to u/originalcondition: Joe Jr on 3rd Ave is a great little diner. Can he deal with Italian? John’s of East 12th St could be fun and has the super-basics available while also offering a few more traditional/adventurous dishes. I haven’t been to Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken in a while so not sure what the quality is like these days; seems like Rowdy Rooster is the favored option but might be too much for him if he doesn’t like spice. Bareburger is extremely customizable and decent. I haven’t been to Hamburger America or Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks but I’ve heard good things about both. Maybe Fool’s Gold NYC? A more expensive option is Bubby’s. Anywhere with decent bar food seems like it could be a possibility. Crif Dog?
