replying to u/jaded_toast: I rarely order food when I go out to bar, but I feel like the food in general at Japanese ones is usually great, like Bar Moga, Bar Goto, Katana Kitten. And depending on whether you would consider an izakaya more of a food vs alcohol establishment, then those, too. I haven't been yet, but I have in my notes that Orion Bar in Bushwick is supposed to have good food.
