With a focus on fruits and herbage, there's a decent chance there's something else you enjoy in there. (no recs here, I just go to Otto's Shrunken Head). replying to u/DCRX2020: I'm born and raised in the East Village and Lower East Side, and I can honestly say, my best bet is just eating at home these days. I still do get the same good service from spots here that I have been going to since childhood, but the prices are insane, and I feel like a lot of them are skimping on portions. I usually go to V-Nam for for pho because I just like their atmosphere and the employees are awesome, but I was recently kind of going to Sao Mai because I'd be at that end of the city sometimes, and they just raised it 2.50 more for their pho, and I'm not going back there again. It's now $15.00. That's absolutely crazy. I miss the old school spots like Yaffa Cafe, Asian Pub, Thai Cafe, Sushi Park ETC, there were so many cool spots. Now everything is for NYU dormitory kids who are okay with mediocre food at ridiculous prices. I used to be a chef, I will tell a restaurant when they fuck up, I will go to the chef and tell him he's trash, I haven't had to do that recently because I know where to go, but I can't really say "hey, it was small" because everything is wild right now price wise. Unfortunately, it's an undying trend.  Even though Punjab Deli raised their price a bit, it's still the best food you can get in the East Village. B&H Dairy is the other dope spot, and Paul's Burgers for a big ass juicy burger (but you have to season it yourself.) replying to u/Mumbojmbo: Chinatown in general. I run out of appetite long before I run out of money any time I eat down there (which is often, hence my belly). FWIW my go-to’s include Noodle Village, Spicy Village, May Wah, North Dumpling, and Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles.

replying to u/lunacraz: going to throw a wrench at you, but if you like pork chops, and want something different, why not try chinese style pork chops? A lot of canto/shanghai spots will have a good Salt & Pepper Pork Chop dishes, which is one of my favorite things to get at chinese restaurants. Peking style Pork Chop is also a thing, which is way more saucy and a bit sweet. Two spots I can probably recommend is Wu's Wonton King and Congee Village If you want something way more casual (and cheap), taiwanese pork chop over rice is definitely a thing! Taiwan Pork Chop House has it, although i prefer May Wah Fast Food. If you're ever in chinatown and want a casual and cheap way to enjoy pork chops, try it out!
