My personal favorite cheesecake is at Mah ze Dahr. I think that you are missing a black and white cookie. And I would suggest adding Doughnut Plant; I love them in general, but specifically to try the Brooklyn blackout, which is based on a historic cake. It's my favorite version of the cake I've tried so far (most places that have the actual cake do it wrong! They either don't use pudding in the middle or don't coat the outside in cake crumbs. They just call a regular or darkened chocolate cake a blackout, and that's not it!)

replying to u/_BlueOcean_: Village Square and Saba’s are both good slice shop options on Lexington Ave (Saba’s is kosher, so no meat toppings). For a sit down option that’s still pretty reasonably-priced, Thai @ Lex is good. You could also walk a bit further East…on 3rd Ave, a new location of the super-viral Popup Bagels just opened, and on 2nd Ave, there’s a 7th Street Burger, which is quite popular (doesn’t have any seating, though, just stand up counter/tables), or Hutch & Waldo for a healthier option.

replying to u/DinerEnBlanc: Lived in NY all my life and these are the slices that have given me such a euphoric feeling. Not saying they'll stand up today, but these were the best I've had at the time. L'industrie - Just the perfect evolution of a NY slice Farina - My current favorite pizza restaurant Emily's (10ish years ago) - First time having atypical pizza toppings, honey specifically. Price Street (15 ish years ago) - What I thought was a peak for a slice shop Motorino (15ish years ago) - Fire time having genuine Neapolitan Lombardis (15 ish years ago) - First time having coal oven pizza Unknown Pizzeria (25 ish years ago) - There used to be this pizzeria in Brooklyn on 5th ave in the mid to low 60s that made the thinnest slices. They would coat it gently with sesame seeds which gave it this unbelievable fragrant crunch when you bit into it. It was across the street from an arcade. The owner was a really nice eastern European guy who closed to shop after he got a gig as a doorman. No clue what it was called, but I still think of it to this day. If anyone can actually find this shops name, lemme know. And since we're snobs, I'm going to go ahead and name the most overrated pizza shop in NY, and that's Di Faras.

replying to u/sir_topham_biff: Hype always dies down. You can just go buy a cronut now anyway and it's no issue. Want something from Lafayette bakery, now you can go anytime. Prince St pizza was never really a neighborhood spot. But when it first came out it truly raised the bar on square pizza in the city. Now a decade later essentially they serve slop to people but still have a line. It's still decent but the amount of customers they have, they just can't keep the quality consistent. The original pizzaiolo of Prince, Frank Badali went off and created Made in New York pizza. Which itself was good when it first opened on the UWS. But now is literally worse than Prince St. You can't even get a slice that's cooked anymore. Both of these places just hire workers who don't give a shit about the product. Like so many other places. I wish for the day I can have a pepperoni square at Prince that tastes like it did in 2016 or so. Now you get something closer at Jets pizza.
