In manhattan there is john’s of 12th street, maybe emilio’s ballato. arthur avenue in the bronx, a number of places in brooklyn. I am in queens and for that genre look at manducatis, parkway in corona, and armondo’s. FYI the boros are all accessible via subway, and are perfectly safe.

replying to u/dummonger: I am going to my favorite restaurant in NYC on Valentine’s Day: Park Side. It’s in Queens though and extremely old school, like walking into a Time Machine of old NYC. However, if you’re looking for something a little nicer, may I recommend Keen’s? It’s very classy, centrally located and has been great forever.

replying to u/rb56redditor: This is good advice. I can attest to the one in Corona, I believe they are referring to "Parkside", very well done American Italian. Usually good atmosphere, if you're lucky maybe a table or two of "colorful" local Italian characters. Check out lemon ice king nearby if it's open, but bring your own napkins.
