replying to u/HistoryAlarmed1319: I just went to Red Hook Tavern for the third time. I walked in at 4:55 opening time to ask for a bar seat. The women had the most confused look, that made me feel like shit for even assuming I could walk in without a reservation. She said "we can maybe fit you in", and proceeded to eat my burger in peace while only 2 other bar seats filled up. Very pretentious from my previous experiences .

replying to u/MrCakemeat: Frankie’s 457 Spuntino gets a lot of love on here. I find their menu very uneven but the cavatelli with sausage is great. Cafe Spaghetti is way better imo but other side of Carroll Gardens and can sometimes be difficult to get a table. Buttermilk Channel is a classic, though will be more brunch than lunch and also may be a wait. Boran is a hidden gem, great and unapologetically authentic Thai food, so I’d only go if you’re ok with strong flavors and some heat. UnTable is another, new Thai place that is supposed to be great though I haven’t been yet.

replying to u/misterfloods: Getting recognized ain’t easy haha. I’ve been to Eyval at least a dozen times, probably my most frequented “nice” restaurant, but I don’t feel like they recognize me at all. Places where they do that are also excellent? Sailor. Yemen Cafe. Cafe Spaghetti.
