La Dong

6.8/10Vietnamese

AI-generated summary

The is what people praise, flavorful enough that you don't need to add anything. A bowl of runs about $21 and plenty of people think that's too much. The real argument is authenticity, since the owners are Thai and several Vietnamese diners say the flavors and the banh xeo aren't right. Others just like how it tastes.

  • Honestly, I really wanted to love this spot, but after three visits I feel that it's not worth the high price. The only standout item I've had is their shrimp summer rolls, which are packed with fresh veggies and shrimp with an excellent dipping sauce. The pho had a nice broth, but the meat was fatty

Love La Dong. Beef pho is great but don’t sleep on the chicken. More expensive than I’d like ($21 I think) but worth it IMO. I though the banh mi was delicious too and had fantastic bread

  • replying to u/InternalSubject5908: La Dong was unreal

The carrot in their bo kho was undercooked, everything was seasoned with extra tartness and extra sweetness. I think it can be good for some but as a Vietnamese going in expecting Vietnamese flavor, it wasn't for me

  • replying to u/revolmak: Yeah, as a viet boy it doesn't look authentic. But it does look intriguing. I'll try it if I'm nearby

It was good but only a bit better than your standard Vietnamese restaurant and 3x the price.. not worth it and will not be going back.
