replying to u/bustarapus: hells Kitchen isn't the worst neighborhood to have a meal in NYC by any standards. it's listed below but Pure Thai Cookhouse is the champion by far - very solid and creative thai food that has held an impressively high standard for a while now. Chalong is a new Thai kid on the block its quite good. lum lum is another good Thai restaurant but I haven't been in a while - service was disorganized and they rushed me out last time. left a bad taste in my mouth. Mari + Kochi - only been to kochi once when it opened but both of these spots are offering prix fixe korean fine dining cant speak to them at this point but if you are into coursed out french influenced food kochi is probably the spot. Hyderabad zaqui - got a review recently in eater only been once very decent indian food nothing to write home about yet but plan to go back and explore the menu more. Ramen - lots of ramen all good: EAK - I only like the spicy one Totto - Rich chicken broth long-standing ny classic Hide Chan - I think same owners as Totto but pork broth Japanese food - theres a strip of Japanese restraunts on top of eachother on 53rd st? Soba noodle Azuma - classic more of a lunch spot for me but decent soba spot nice vibe Donburiya - izakaya vibes, not the best meal but sit at the bar and have a big ol beer and enjoy yourself - used to be open late and it was the best going at 2 am to get dumplings Yakitori Totto - chiller yakitori spot yakitori toroshin - upscale spo…
“Having been to both Id recommend toribro ramen over ramen totto. Not sure the exact history but it seems like the original owner of totto left to make toribro few blocks over and it’s a lot better imo.”
