Back then they actually were aiming for a star and was priced even higher than now. Now it’s just like a slightly higher end version of Seoul salon, another restaurant run by the same group

replying to u/CP81818: Fairly petty, but I had a bad experience at atoboy and that, coupled with mediocre food, has stopped me from going back. Really rushed service (like all courses of the *mandatory multi course menu* arriving at the same time, the staff refusing to acknowledge that they were bringing third courses when we were two bites into the first course, and had the untouched second course balanced on the table level of bad) and just overall a bad vibe. I personally love a pre-fixe menu, but if the restaurant *only* offers a pre-fixe I expect it to be executed well in terms of timing. There's no reason for people to have received all courses within 45 minutes of sitting down unless you're trying to rush them out. Otherwise I generally find service here to be pretty solid to fantastic. On the rare occasion I get truly bad service it's clearly part of a wider issue (ie everyone waiting a shockingly long time for food, one server handling an unrealistic number of tables, dishes going to wrong tables left and right, etc) which I'm more likely to write off as a glitch.

replying to u/pandaspuppiespizza: Naro (upscale Korean in Rock Center) has a 2-course lunch for $30 or 3-course lunch for $42 (the 3-course is for some reason not on their website menu but it’s the same as the 2-course plus dessert). I did the 3-course (I did $6 extra supp for the salmon app, then got the beef tteokgalbi and the donut with banana custard for dessert) and thought it was a great value and yummy food. A couple options do have a small supplement but plenty of options without a supplement, and it’s a nice space and great service. Already made a second reservation to go back with a friend (who had gone already too for resto week so will also be her second time), we both just think $42 for 3 courses is so good. Also did cosme $60 3-course dinner — I did no supplements/extras (they didn’t really have upcharges to the resto week menu so it was really more like you could order a few extra dishes at basically full price). I thought it was good food and attentive service but the seating for resto week is only in the front bar area and I had a weird little table so they segregate it. The apps and dessert options correspond to stuff on their regular menu but the entrees are totally different (I think) so hard to do an apples to apples comparison of value, but their stuff is so expensive that $60 is pretty solid for 3 courses so I would recommend.
