replying to u/Pheragonda: haha yes and I've accrued quite a list of possible places but I was hoping I could get more curated help. I am aslo just curious where other people would go if they were given similar circumstances. If helpful, my current runners are Death and Co or Dear Irving for a more drink centered night and 4 Charles or Oiji Mi for a more meal centered night. I know there are so many other places I haven't even heard of that aren't the "trendiest" and I'd appreciate more insight :)

replying to u/that_was_way_harsh: I’d add Death and Company to the “worth visiting” list, although it’s pricey AF. They put together ingredients I’d never dream of combining in the same drink, and it always comes out interesting at worst and mind-blowing at best. I might, though, replace it with Raines Law Room, since Death and Company mostly doesn’t take reservations and the drinks at Raines are just as good without having to put your name in and wait (or stand in line waiting for them to open, which I confess to having done).

replying to u/WorriedAd5024: most restaurants have gone downhill post-pandemic. Had Ivan Ramen before the pandemic. It was amazing, best Ramen i’d had. After, it was like a completely different restaurant. Death and Co was great for food, but $29 for a cocktail that’s not anything special to me.

replying to u/SoothedSnakePlant: Yes. I'm much more plugged into the bar scene, but it's the same over there. A lot of the high-end, highly revered bars are scraping by or losing money lately. Death and Co's investment opportunity opened up their Financials and they do not paint a pretty picture for the service industry in this city right now for places that aren't extremely high margin.

replying to u/Lyin-Don: I tried walking in one time and it was PACKED with a douchey bouncer working the door. While I haven’t tried it - I find it impossibly hard to believe it’s worthy of such a designation considering the vibe I got. I have zero interest in returning to give it a try. Especially with so many (deservedly) acclaimed bars within immediate walking distance. We walked over to Death & Co and got in after a friendly interaction with the host and a 5-minute wait. Best decision ever.
