Go visit those spots up and down Court Street while you can Zombie Hut is one of the best tiki bars in NYC Gowanus Yacht Club is an awesome spot Barely Disfigured makes great drinks Mercado Central is a better market for Spanish foods and goods than more well known Spanish markets in thr city (looking at you Despaña and Mercado Little Spain) Libertador is on one of the most beautiful blocks in the city, and their parillada is both glorious and reasonably priced Lucali is one of the only places in the city that’s worth the wait

    replying to u/mulleargian: I think Lobster Club is pretty sexy in a fun way. My ultimate sexy date night restaurant would probably be Polo Bar, it’s such an old school vibe. Manhatta is sexy (that view!) and in Brooklyn Gage and Tollner and Maison Premier.

    replying to u/thansal: Tiki Drinks! Delicious, interesting, and generally w/ a base of fruit juice. Otto's Shrunken head is down closer to your other 2 options, Tiki Chick is up town, I love them both, they're wildly different vibes but both are lively.

    replying to u/Garconavecunreve: Try reserving at sunken harbour club if you still can; great spot for Afters (I don’t drink and still enjoy accompanying people there) Order: house rolls, clams kimisino or raw bar items for starters, butter roasted hash potatoes and spinach as sides. Steak: stick with the classic cut of your preference. Baked Alaska is the signature dessert, I think the sundae is much more interesting tbh

    replying to u/JayMoots: Gage and Tollner if you want to stay in Brooklyn. Classic, iconic bar with 100+ year old decor. It’s a very short walk to the Katz’s Deli satellite at the City Point food hall. And the Transit Museum is nearby.  In Manhattan, I’d do Balthazar. Very iconic French bistro with immaculate vibes. People argue about the quality of the food these days, but sitting at the bar for martinis and oyster is still a top-notch NYC experience. (You should probably get an order of fries too.) Then it’s about a 15-min walk to the original Katz’s Deli. And both the Tenement Museum and the New Museum are on the way.

    replying to u/Short_Lingonberry_67: Are you familiar with Gage+Tollner? Beautiful interior, known as a bit of a steakhouse but not really a steakhouse (most of the menu is other stuff). Upstairs they have a tiki-themed cocktail lounge. Could be a fun evening package.

    replying to u/NoahBagels: Good timing to ask since I was just back there about two weeks ago so I'll talk about that. Thought the cocktails were great. My GF and I like classic cocktails more so than modern cocktails and we felt they were spot on. The wedge salad was classic. Crisp, fresh, tons of blue cheese. I hadn't considered the beef wellington (I prefer fattier cuts over a filet) but we saw it at a neighboring table and decided we needed to have it and it absolutely landed. We could have had leftovers but I couldn't stop eating it. So in my two visits, which I admit skewed more classic/safe over adventurous, I thought everything was delicious and well executed. Plus I love the atmosphere and the drinks. I have two strikes against them that while not deal breakers, are certainly on my mind. First, a little after we sat down (I think ordering the second round of cocktails and way before the main course) I asked our waiter about getting on the list for Sunken Harbor. Fast forward and the woman working the door says we were like 1-2 parties away on the list but they would be closing soon. After dropping over $450 on dinner (maybe not a lot to them, but it's a lot to us) it's disappointing that they couldn't find a way to make that work. We literally wanted to give them more money and have a fun drink or two upstairs. Next time, I'll mention Sunken Harbor as soon as we walk in.
