replying to u/Agreeable-Ad-7110: Curry- Katsu-hama Tonkatsu- Prime Meat Rokko Soba- Ise closed down so now nippon Udon- Raku Tempura- Tempura Matsui (note, this is traditional so it's not just "crispiest batter" like secchu yokota which is clearly better for western taste palates) Modern takes on Japanese dishes- Sakagura Shabu shabu- Shabu Mayumon for a weird but great shabu omakase, momokawa for better shabu with an actual broth, but it's bloody expensive unfortunately Yakiniku- Idk, but have heard good things about yakiniku futago Yakitori- Kono for omakase, totto for cheaper. I will say, the omakases were better like a couple years ago when they cooked the chicken less so they were still a little pink and also they could serve more parts of the chicken like chochin (ovary + fallopian tube).

If that's what you're looking for, the majority of Ramen shops in the city have a Miso ramen on the menu, which means you've got an abundance of great options. As for soup curry, I haven't gotten it before, but Cocoron has a soup curry on the menu. I'm not sure if it's specifically a Sapporo soup curry, but Cocoron is delicious, so it's probably good.

replying to u/crazeman: I would go for food from South America and Asia. **NYC staples:** A good pastrami sandwich is a must and [Katz Deli](https://maps.app.goo.gl/UfUSMhYWxgPkV4tN7) is the most iconic and touristy. Sarge's or 2nd Ave deli are also good alternative spots. Definitely get a good NY bagel. [Everything is Everything](https://everythingiseverything.nyc/) has most bagel spots reviewed and is a good resource. Levain's (multiple locations) is a classic NYC cookie spot. Huge cookies and delicious. I'd consider Juniors (multiple locations) and [Eileen's](https://maps.app.goo.gl/QPsPU3mrNRHH972DA) to be the NYC classic cheesecakes. Eileen's is particular good if you want to try a bunch of bite size cheesecakes of different flavors. Maybe Veniero's too but I feel like that might be more Italian and maybe more commonly found in Europe. Bread Bakery for their chocolate babka For Pizza, head to the West Village, there's like 5 different old school/new school pizzerias. Joes/John/Bleeker St are your old school. L'industrie/Mama Too is your new school. When I went to All'Antico Vinaio, the guy who made my sandwich was telling me that Italian sandwiches are very different than American-Italian sandwiches. No clue if that's any true but if you want a good old school Italian-American sandwich, Pisillo (2 locations now) is a great sandwich spot. **American:** American BBQ.
