  • Shanghai 21 I would suggest getting the Braised Lions Head dish, it's saucey which goes great with rice or noodles and a few big meat balls that melt in your mouth with some mushrooms and veggies on the side, I also like their double sauteed pork which is a little on the fatty side since they use pork belly for this dish.

  • Really good tofu dishes as well - honestly everything I've gotten there has been excellent and I always have enough leftovers for several meals after. It's a great spot.

  • The crispy fried beef strips (not the menu name I’m sure) are my absolutely favorite but otherwise I would say your order is an A for sure.

  • Shanghai 21, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao and Shanghai You Garden are good too if you like the more traditional Shanghai style XLBs.

  • replying to u/cakeme: i’m surprised shanghai 21 didn’t do it for you. it always hits the spot for us. looks like you got the salt and pepper squid? wondering what else you ordered that wasn’t as good as you expected

Shanghai 21 wasn’t bad but maybe I got dishes they don’t specialize in

  • replying to u/cholinguito: What a horrible name for an establishment lol. The best chili wontons IMHO are at Shanghai21. It’s one of my favorite places to eat alone and the staff is so super friendly. They recommended I eat them alongside the old style lo mein and mix the sauces after and that’s been my go to order ever since. 🥲

The triple fried beef at Shanghai 21 is GODLY
