  • replying to u/Chimkimnuggets: I’m generally not a fan of pan-Asian restaurants but I genuinely could make better rice at home in a rice cooker. It’s Asian food. How the fuck do you make the rice that bland????

Certainly also don’t want to pay like $8 for a bowl of it, but tbh my family and I were pretty pleased by the food there aside from the price.

  • replying to u/WelcomeToBrooklandia: So...you want bad sushi? (Sorry for the snark, but Tao hasn't been considered high-quality sushi for at least 20 years.)

The sushi itself being better than Tao would be great.

It is now average, but very expensive.

  • You can also explore table service restaurants that offer omakase like Tao which have a clubby vibe, or Momoya in Soho. The vibes are definitely different but good alternatives.

  • replying to u/grumpus15: Is tao really that bad? I dated a chick who went to the club at 2am and I think was scoring drugs from the owner, but I wasn't sure. I never went to the restauraunt. However, she told me she really liked the restauraunt and she had horrible taste. What sucks about it?

The restaurant is horrible. Basically the worst takeout Chinese food ever for like $50 a dish
